Unrequited and Forbidden

A love once earned, then lost
Can someday be accepted,
A love unrequited has cost
Far more than would be expected.
At the sight of you my heart leaps,
Though guilt feels my entirety.
Then the incredible sight of her keeps
The rest of me from jumping so free.
My heart reaches toward you,
Then her face comes into view,
For love is the piteous glue
Holding me to and from you.
The holy sanction of Him,
Is indestructible to me.
And in the bittersweet end
I would indeed leave it be.
Though deepest desires,
Focus on your sweet touch.
I could not bear the fires
Of your love burning out so much.
God gave you to her
And, at once, not to me.
Though the reason is a blur,
I leave without glee.
