The stars shining tonight
Speak of mystery and lore,
Oddities and parodies
Of a time distorted, forgotten.
As beauty becomes
A side effect of forced intoxication,
And the definition of love
Now a word of lust.
Physical Needs
Enhanced by the bending of the mind.
A world no more than a dream to most
A nightmare to the ones
Of any faculty to care.
Mist dancing across the land,
The midnight feasting time.
Like cattle, led willingly
To become the sustenance of others.
Those aware see the mercy
Of such tricks and illusions,
The blissful ignorance,
And a small offering of peace,
Puzzle over its irony.
Too late to turn back,
And futile to run.
The predators have touched ground.
