Medieval Knights

By Fantasygirl

AN: I had to write this for my World History class. It's a one shot and kinda short. I hope you like it. ^_^ R&R

"Ha! I won again. Now, spare yourself the defeat and admit I'm better than you at sword fighting games, Ochiru," 17-year-old Chan said as he crossed his arms. Ochiru rolled his hazel colored eyes.

"Fine, I admit it," Ochiru signed in annoyance.

"Don't say it that way. Not with an angry tone," Chan replied.

"Both of you quit it!" commanded a new voice, this one feminine. Chan and Ochiru turned around to see Kumori, Ochiru's twin sister. "I wanted to play the new game that was released to today."

"Sorry, we were only having a bit of fun," Chan apologized sweetly. "Let's go then."

Ochiru frowned and shoved his hands in his pockets. "This better not be something stupid Kumori."

"Don't worry it won't be. It's a v-game."

"I trust Kumori's judgment," Chan stated with a smile.

"I bet you do."

The trio walked to the new game Kumori suggested. It was called Medieval Knights. There was a booth with three chairs inside; each held a strange helmet. To Kumori's fortune there was no line to play the game.

"Kumori what kind of game is this?" Ochiru asked irritably.

"Like I said it's a virtual game," she replied.

"It says right here," Chan said looking at the side of the booth. "It's an Virtual Action RPG. You get to play as a knight in the middle ages, equipped fully with magic and weaponry."

"Come on let's play guys!" Kumori gleamed.

"I don't really like RPG's," Ochiru muttered.

"What do you think Chan?" Kumori asked ignoring Ochiru.

"I don't see why not."

From afar, another group of teens were watching the scene. The first one was short and was named Kyle. He had brown hair and steel blue eyes. He acted as the leader of the group. The next one was medium height, had brown eyes and dirty blonde hair. His name was Larry. The third and last teen was named Roy, who was also median height. He had black hair and green eyes.

"Isn't that Chan, from our school?" Larry asked.

"Yeah, that pretty boy, but who's he with?" Roy questioned.

"The Omura twins," Kyle replied.

"How did you know that?" Roy inquired.

"The brown haired one, Ochiru, got me I trouble once and I was suspended for two weeks," Kyle explained bitterly.

"What do you want to do?" Larry asked with an evil smile.

"Get even," Kyle replied while forming a fist with his hand.

Chan, Ochiru, and Kumori got into the booth. Kumori took her black hair out of the ponytails so her head would be able to fit in the helmet. Once everyone had his or her helmets on, Ochiru hit the start button to the game. The trios were instantly blasted into the game world. They opened their eyes to find themselves in front of a large stone castle. They were dressed in identical gray armor and were wearing strange wristbands on their right wrists. Suddenly, a computerized voice boomed into their heads.

"Welcome to Medieval Knights. Please state your names and weapon preferences," the monotone voice said.

"My name is Chan Meyers, I would like a sword," Chan spoke up. A sword instantaneously appeared in his hands. It was very lengthy and had a silver handle. Ochiru and Kumori repeated the process. Ochiru chose the bow and arrow and Kumori chose an axe.

"You have been officially logged into the Medieval Knights' database. I am now starting the tutorial for the game. On your right arm is a wristband, which contains your game menu. Touch it and there is a list of five commands. These commands are Items, Magic, Status, Exit Game, and Help. By touching Items, will receive an inventory of items you have collected throughout the game and two subcommands, Use and Discard. By touching Magic, you will receive a list of magic spells you have learned throughout the game and the subcommand Use. However you have a limit of how much magic you can use. So be aware of your Magic Points or MP. Different weapons come with different spells. By touching Status, you will receive currents stats of yourself and your teammates. These stats include Health points or HP, MP, and any status ailments such as being poisoned or paralyzed. Also be aware of your HP. If it drops down to zero you can longer participate in the game, however there are some items that can cure this. If all three characters' HP drops to zero, the game is over. You can exit the game by pressing Exit Game and the command Help is there in case you need any in-depth info about anything you've just learned. This is the end of the tutorial. Please go inside the manor to get instructions for you first mission," the computerized voice explained.

"Wow, that sure is a lot to sink in," Ochiru commented. The others agreed and they walked into the large manor. Inside, it was slightly dimmed, the only light source coming from the windows. The ceiling was very high and the golden chandeliers were beautifully crafted. A lone man stood at the end of the room. He was middle aged and was nicely attired. His brown hair was pulled back into a small ponytail; his light brown eyes gazed at them.

"Come forth," his voice boomed.

Back in the real world Kyle, Larry, Roy sneaked behind the Medieval Knights booth. Larry and Kyle roughly opened the back of the booth where all the electronics of the game were located, while Roy made sure no one was coming. Once the back was open Kyle randomly switched a few wires.

"I'd like to see them play now," Kyle scowled. Larry closed it up. "Let's go guys." With that, the three walked off as if nothing happened.

Inside the virtual world of Medieval Knights, Chan, Kumori, and Ochiru began to walk towards the unknown man. When they reached him he began speak again.

"Greetings, young knights, I am known as Count Daro and I am the vassal of this fief. I have summoned you to find King Yaseta. He disappeared over a month ago," Count Daro explained.

"Do you any clues to where he might be?" Kumori asked.

"No, I'm sorry," he replied.

"How will we know it's him when we find him?" Chan asked.

"He's very hard to miss, you see, he's not human. He's actually an elf and one of his eyes is darker than the other," Count Daro replied.

"Okay then, we'll try our best," Ochiru exclaimed.

"Please do."

They exited the manor and sighed simultaneously.

"I wonder if Charlemagne is in this game?" Chan pondered.

"Who?" Ochiru and Kumori asked simultaneously.

"Charlemagne, he was a famous ruler in the middle ages. Don't you guys pay attention in history?" Chan explained.

"No," Ochiru replied.

"Anyways we should split up, it might go faster," Kumori suggested.

"Hold on a sec," Chan said as he was looking through his wristband. "Got it! There's a map of the place in the Items section. There are three close places where we can search. I'll check out the village that's south here"

"I'll go to the monastery," Ochiru insisted, also looking at his map.

"And I'll take on the peasants on the serfs," Kumori said. "Let's meet back here in about a half hour, okay?"

Chan and Ochiru nodded and they went there separate ways. They came back to the same spot a half hour later.

"I got nothing on the king," Kumori exclaimed exasperated. "The peasants were too busy gardening on farms and barely talked to me."

"Same here," Ochiru said in the same manner. "They threw me out before I could question them, what about you Chan?"

"I was actually quite successful. There's a rumor going around the village that a person who fits the king's description is living in a cabin in the forest," Chan explained.

Kumori accessed her map and gasped. "According to the map the nearest forest is miles and miles away!"

Ochiru frowned. "I'm not about to walk that far."

"You guys are right. Do you wanna play a different game?" Chan advised.

"Sure, lets exit out," Kumori agreed. They each touched Exit out on their wristbands but nothing happened.

"What going on? We're still here!" Ochiru yelled.

"I don't know. Let's try again," Chan said as touched Exit Out, however, it still didn't work.

"Great, we're stuck here," Kumori said in a highly irritated tone.

"I knew we shouldn't have listened to Kumori," Ochiru muttered.

"Hey! Don't blame it on me!" Kumori retorted.

"Come on guys let's not fight. Maybe we have to win the game to get out," Chan stated.
"It's the best idea we got," Ochiru uttered.

"Fine, let's go to the stupid forest, to find the stupid king," Kumori grumbled. With that, they began their journey to the forest and started walking.

After what seemed like hours, they finally came upon as small cabin. Chan knocked at the door. A few seconds later, the door opened to reveal a young man with blonde hair. His right eye was an icy blue color while his left was navy blue and his ears were long and pointy.

"You're King Yaseta aren't you?" Kumori assumed.

"How did me?" King Yaseta asked.

"We followed the rumors," Ochiru explained.

"We were sent by Count Daro to take you back," Chan enlightened.

"No, I don't want go back to my land," Yaseta replied softly.

"Why not?!" Kumori bellowed.

"Because I'm traveling to a new place," Yaseta explained.

"But why, my lord?" Ochiru whined.

"Because that's where my fiancé is," Yaseta finished with a smile.

"Ugh, this is going to be harder than I thought," Chan sighed.

Abruptly the ground began to shake and the sound of marching was heard.

"You fools! You lead them right to me!" Yaseta bellowed.

"Lead what?" Kumori asked in a concerned tone.

"Count Daro's army of Vikings. In such a feudalistic world he made an alliance with the Vikings. With the one purpose to kill me, you see. He's my cousin if I die he becomes king," Yaseta elucidated.

"It makes sense now," Chan began. "That's why he wanted s to find you."

"What are we going to do Chan?" Kumori worriedly asked.

"The only thing we can ," Chan replied as he got out his weapon. He turned around ready to fight. The others followed his lead. As the Vikings charged forward everything seemed to go black. Game over.
