As we sit here in a piercing silence
I look up from my plate and make eye contact

With my adversary
You. Don't give me that shit

Don't pretend everything is normal
Because of you I question everything I say

Because of you
My world is crumbling as we speak

The sound of silence devours us
You are consumed with disgust

And as I look into your ice cold eyes
I want to wrench them from you

I want to kick and scream
I need to take my anger out on something

I want you to beat me
So I may have a reason to despise you so

Just dare to backhand me
And see what happens

Try to yell and scream at me
And act like the drunk I know you could be

I dare you. Say something to me
Tell me how much you hate me

Beat me to a bloody pulp
And then see if I still despise you

The silence is becoming unbearable
There is only the clinking of forks and knives

I look to my right and see her
Hunched over and shaking slightly

Why don't you love her?
You are a brick wall, emotionless

She tries to love you
Any fool could see that

Yet you just stare at her like she isn't from this planet
Do you think you're better than her?

You aren't. I can't stand you
How could she?

How were you two ever in love?
Opposites don't always attract
The silence continues to penetrate the worthless air
And I look up once again

And see that you and she are smiling at each other
For what reason I do not know, nor do I care

Because I can't make her smile
And you can

This makes me smile as well
So the three of us sit here

Like fools in an empty dining room
Smiling in complete silence
