-- Title -- Capability of Fear

-- Author -- Daimon Minerva

==---

What we fear most. Incapable of describing.

Yet, what if we could find a cure for fear. Something that would make us not so cowardice and fearful of the inevitable. Something that could rid us of our basic troubles and place us in another state of mind. Yes, we do have drugs for that, but do they really work?

Most of us fear death. What is death really? The end?

Or just the beginning?

No one can tell you what death is exactly and what form it takes because it takes many forms. Manslaughter, arson, murder and suicide are all forms of death. Naming a few. Death is just a word people use to describe bliss. Another world that awaits you at the end of your tunnel, whether you're going to - Hell - or even - Heaven -. Hell doesn't sound very nice, does it?

How can we tell there is even a Heaven? Has someone been there and said," I have seen Heaven and it is better off than Hell."

Most of us fear being alone. What is being alone?

If you're alone, then you have no one to hurt. No one can hurt you and make you someone you're not. Being alone allows the mind to clean itself of the dirty remains of the day and usually, some might say you have an -illness- if you're alone constantly. That you suffer from social anxiety, or depression and/or you just hate being alive. What do they know? Being alone also allows thinking to be done, whether it's bad or good thinking and you don't have others putting their suggestions in on how to use your time.

Most of us fear those who cut themselves. Who exactly cuts?

Is it bad?

How does it feel?

What do most people use?

Many people cut, but most are not spotted in the usual crowd. The cutters have different ways of hiding their self-inflicted wounds from the cruel, optimistic world that judges anything and everything. Most cutters go for the wrist method, but others cut their bodies. Stomachs, sides, legs and even chest. Anywhere there is flesh. In my opinion, cutting is not bad and it's just a way for different people to get their pent up stress out. Those who think otherwise, I accept why you may think it's stupid and wrong. I thought that way before I started and now, I look back. I regret saying that people who cut are losers and that I'll never do it. The whole cutting process is to get out your feelings when nothing else seems to work, it's not because of depression. In most cases it is, but not all the time. Sometimes it does hurt, especially after you're finished and have the fragile layer of skin that has been mangled. In my case, I didn't feel anything when I first did it and that was only recently. Well, not recently, but what the hell. Maybe five months ago at the most. Your mind seems to block out the pain and you can't feel anything, only the emotion you have burning inside of you. Most people use blades ( knives, razors, scissors, pocket knives, ect. ). Others use safety pins, needles, glass and even parts of barbed wire. People have different procedures to go by and it's varied. Some people use pens without ink also, rubbing the flesh off and making a sort of burn mark until it punctures through.

Most of us fear Goths ( or people different than us )

Are they bad influences?

What's their problem with the world?

There are many who think people who are different, maybe the girl next door shaved her head for example and the whole school laughed at her. Called her names and said she was a lesbian. That's not unusual and it happens a lot. People have their judgments and are judgemental. That's how the world works and the different people want to be just that. Different. Those who are different will be remembered for how bizarre they are, unlike those who go with the latest teen magazine fashion fad that will most likely change after some star wears something other than that. People who are different are not bad influences, well...only if they do bad things to the community ( like steal, light local cats on fire, ect.) they are. People who are different probably have something against the world, but who has the right to say they do? People who dress in all black are automatically called Goths, when that is really just an old architecture for buildings of the early 1400's and 1500's. Gothic people, if there is such a word, are just those who enjoy being different. Some of the hard core ones pierce each other and find it cool. People may turn their noses up at that and think it's disgusting.

Most of us fear animals.

Why?

Who would hate such cute, fluffy animals!?

Most people see the animal past as untamed, wild, carnivour beasts who killed people and ate babies. Their undomesticated ancestors could have done that to survive and people could have the right to fear pets. Dogs' ancestors are the wolves. Cats are tigers. Both, if they had the chance and were very hungry or sick, could take down a human being then eat it. Predators by nature, dogs and cats are viewed as unpredictable. You can actually see their ancestor's survival tactics. A cat hunting a mouse and a dog stalking a ball. Or herding cattle, the crouch and stealth they have while doing so. People don't -hate- animals, they just get nervous around them and have a panic attack. The teeth of the animal may have something to do with it and watching too many nature shows.

to be continued in chapter two.

I just decided to write a little...umm..perspective thing that I was thinking about. Views on what makes people fearful. Don't flame, please. Criticism without saying something is stupid will make someone do better the next time. Those who have been thinking about cutting, who read this, please don't start. Though, I can't stop you. Suicide is also not the way to die.
