DARKENED MOON
O new moon,
You listened with open ears,
With a story to tell,
And an unknown start,
You know that your magic,
Awakened this heart.
O half moon,
You thought I could get back,
With a string that you played,
And a change in the tides,
You know that I have lost,
What it took to be alive.
O crescent moon,
You cannot save me now,
With a dip of your head,
And a wind-blown goodbye,
You know that this silence,
Has severed our tie.
O dark moon,
You discarded my faith,
With shadows on your eyes,
And an execution of the light,
You know that what was close,
Died this very night.
