Apprehension
ARC

I'm not afraid
just a bit unsure
words flow like water
slipping away
breath of the world
held in silence
when my eyes touch yours

I'm not afraid
at the sight of those eyes
wide and kind
safe
inviting
offering earth-colored solace
holding delicate warmth

I'm not afraid
when my heart quickens
drumming liquid passion
through my system
myself
crimson rising
hot and fast as racing thoughts

I'm not afraid
watching your lips
in perfect pink softness
surrounding the syllables
my ears drink deeply
my mouth is immobile
sans oxygen

I'm not afraid
but what are you thinking?
