Nodokai: Destiny
Intro
Snowflakes gently fell from the dark velvet sky and onto the vast snowfield below. Scy carefully scanned the surrounding area with his dark-sapphire eyes, or what he could see, anyway, on this night. There was nothing in sight. Nothing for as far as he could see, except a darkened, endless field with a large blanket of snow to cover it.
He shivered slightly, it was bitter cold tonight.
Scy raised his right hand to his forehead and gently pushed aside some of his azure hair, just enough so that it was out of his eyes. His head tilted upward, toward the night sky, dotted with millions of illuminant stars. It was a new moon, so the stars above looked especially birght. Scy thought it was weird, snow kept falling, yet there wasn’t a cloud in sight.
“Yo, Scy,” he felt someone rest their icy hand on his right shoulder.
“He turned his head to see who it was, even though he could all ready tell from the lively voice. “Yes, Matrix?”
“Watcha’ doin’ over here by ‘yerself?” The young man, no taller than Scy, maybe in his early twenties, with short auburn hair questioned him.
Scy shifted his view back to the stars and snow which was still swiftly falling from the sky... He tried to come up with something to say. “I don’t know…” He replied, sounding kind of down. “Thinking about her…”
The other man stared at Scy for a second or two, trying to think of a way to comfort him. “Hey, buddy!” Matrix started to lightly shake Scy’s shoulder. “You’ll see Kearia soon enough! Right now, ‘yer mind should be on the mission.”
He was right. This upcoming assignment, given by the government’s orders, was supposed to be difficult. A code five Mage had been spotted somewhere in Irethica, a nearby city which they were traveling to. He took out an entire group of the city’s strongest hunters. From there, they’d be able to take a train to Lithekem, Kearia’s home city.
“C’mon! Join us!” Matrix lifted his hand from Scy’s shoulder and pointed to two other men, who could barely even be seen, hidden by the darkness. One was on the snow-covered ground, on his knees, trying to start a fire to keep warm, while the other stood there motionless and silent, just watching him.
Scy looked over to them. ”Sure,” he said, just barely above a whisper. The two treaded through the thick snow, gradually making their way to the others.
“How’s that fire goin’ there, Hawk?” Matrix asked just for the Hell of it, all ready knowing what the reply would be.
The man trying desperately to start a fire, so that they wouldn’t freeze to death over night, shot Matrix a glare, though his eyes couldn’t be seen through the semi-long strands of deep lavender hair that dangled over his face and down to his chin. “Shut the Hell up, unless you wanna freeze to death!”
Scy noticed that his other group partner had moved away from them. He stood a few feet away, his back towards them. It seemed like he was staring out into the vast deep nothing, just as Scy had been doing. Scy started making his way towards him.
He stopped when he got beside the other man. Scy examined his mushroom-cut, jet black hair that just almost concealed his emotionless, dark eyes from sight. “Hey,” Scy inaudibly greeted him. “What’s up, Cil?” His real name was Cillian, but the others called him Cil for short.
Just like Scy had expected, Cil didn’t reply. He only continued to gaze out into the darkness of the night, listening to the whistling of the chilly breeze that peacefully swept by, causing Scy to quiver. Cil didn’t shiver, he didn’t even move. It was almost as if he were immune to all senses, all emotion.
Knowing that he wasn’t going to get anything out of him, Scy turned his attention to the snowfield, too. It was kind of soothing to the spirit… In a mysterious way…
