Pinocchio

He has wooden legs
Someone said once
The boy by the water
Offspring of the trees
He's silent
Immovable
Passing hours
Doors close
Lights fade

A little girl cries
Behind a broken window
For the boy she used to know
And still he stands
Never failing
At childhood
Never breaking
Under daddy's hand
Anymore
He doesn't breathe
For thought of yesterday

And in the morning
He's still standing
Waiting for another tomorrow
On wooden legs
