Paint
You know me better than I know myself
And I try to paint you a picture
Just to tell you how I feel
But the colors run together
And I drown in emerald green
No words, no hope, nothing
Left to show you
Inspiration from you
Coming in sweet dreams each night
Say you love me
Say you'll hold me
But when dawn comes you seem to fade
And I wonder if you'll ever know
The ways I feel inside
There are always some things you don't know
I hand you the sheet of paper
But you'll never see a thing
My pen ran out of words
And my pencil can not sing
Can you hear my heart?
It cries out in this dark room
Making rhymes I didn't want
The lines all flow together
And I don't know what way is up
Advise me with your wisdom
You have experience and dreams
Only for you can I write a poem
That rambles as I do
Maybe it would be a song
But my patience is running thin
The formulas won't work
If I am to tell you how I feel
And the words jumble together
To make up my sad heart
If I had any paint
Do you know what I would do?
I would throw it all away
Rather than waste it on these unanswered emotions
