Like a said, a strange man.
*********************************************
Captain Greenbeard trudged through the salt-encrusted rocks, taking care not to cut his soft, leather boots on the razor-sharp barnacles. With his dark green cloak fluttering behind him, he arrived at the mouth of the cavern. Looking in, his eyes lit up. The huge space was empty and gloomy, dark and shadowed towards the walls ; but for the chest, bathed in light and standing in the center. The reflections off the stones in the wall turned the chest a pale lime, the iron fastenings glittering ominously.
"Arrrrrr! The treasure finally be MINE!!!" cried Greenbeard, dashing towards the pool of light. He sank to his knees in front of the sparkling lock, and proceeded to take out his knife. The next few minutes continued with barely a sound but for the scraping of metal on metal. A single bead of sweat ran down the old sailor's face, his features locked in intense concentration. Finally, the lock sprang open with a rusty creak. Greenbeard threw open the lid, eagerly looked in. and howled.
"No!" he cried, crazily throwing the contents up in the air. "How dare you mock me!" He scrambled to his feet amongst the shower of emerald objects and foodstuffs, drawing his sword and wildly waving it front of him. "I shall have revenge! Come out and face me!"
In answer, a shape stepped out of the shadows. "Face me, then!" cried the figure scornfully. Greenbeard leaped after him, blade coming down, but the other's sword appeared of the darkness to parry the blow. They began their deadly dance, weaving in and out of the folds in the cavern. Their steel flashed in the faint light and came together with sharp clashes.
