Prologue

The battlefield was littered with the bodies of countless men. their blood mingling with the dirt that now bore their weight. The dead stared up at the cloudless sky, their lifeless eyes having lost all color. The moon shone over the lake near by, its reflection shimmering red in its waters. Only a few still stood, obviously the victors of the battle, one man stood in the center of it all, his blade glistening a crimson red. He stood up fully and flicked the blood from the blade before sheathing it.
[Why do I keep doing am I fighting this war one man's bid for absolute power.. I cannot do this anymore..]
He walked away from the slaughter, his companions looking on.
"Where are you going Sakamura?!" they shouted out, chasing after the samurai.
"Stay away.I cannot take this anymore," he replied calmly.
"You traitor.. how dare you turn your back on your lord?!" the leader shouted, all of the others drawing their swords.
"Lord.. he's just some petty man who wants all power for himself.. what right does he have to rule us," he spat hatefully.
[Why was I stupid enough to join him?]
"How can you talk like that about our lord.. no matter if you were our comrade.. I shall not allow it!" the leader shouted, lunging at the turned samurai.
"Now. now. Do you believe it is honorable to attack a man with his back turned. and with no sword drawn," Sakamura smirked, spinning around quickly and embedding his katana in the man's neck.
The man fell to the ground blood spewing from the wound in his neck causing the others to hesitate from attacking him. Sakamura dispatched each of them in time.
[I have to get out of here. I have to find someplace. safe. yeah. like I'll be safe. I must leave] The samurai ran into the woods, leaving the slaughter behind. He had failed to notice that a man had witnessed the battle, and his betrayal.. and was currently running to get word to the nearest loyalist.
That was the day Keiji Sakamura, prized samurai of the southern Imperial court, became a it was also the day he became the most wanted man in Japan..where would he go? '
