A Sky Much Too Blue
You ask of me “What’s up”
And to you I’ll tell the truth
Of that which is above me
A sky much too blue.
A sky of slate, more pacifying
I’d rather in a warm, spring rain
The light of gray high above.
Over the sky much too blue
In the coo of the dusking dove.
The clear blue of the breaking sea.
And the salty spray of ocean breeze
Of that which is above me
A sky much too blue.
Deeper in the distance
A squall on the winds
The gloom of the dusking dove
Pacifying among
A sky much too blue.
