Siege Upon the Verdancy
The seedlings waft in the cool air of spring
A storm high on the winds
The message this did bring
Like a black flood came their masses
Their weapons gleamed in glints and flashes
Swarming over the cliffs of that barren plain
As I stand abroad, alone I remain Standing adamant in the washing verdancy
Not a rock nor stone slowing their movement's properity
The fear-striking sword gripped tight in my hand
Gleaming beauty which is far past light's demand
Their archers in place point their bows to the sky
Release their strings and let them fly
They hit their apex and the wave of fire high
Kindling falling and left to die
Second tide, a melee of sword, axe, flail and spear
Charged by the Morningstar encasing hate and fear
A trip, a twitch, a snapping twig
Light's dimming soon dusking, sun's fires fade
One by one like leaves in the winds, they fall to my blade
The spray of blood and crash of bone
Ripping sinew and spirits condone
The Holy light am I as I fight
Against the Morningstar's perjury and blight
Cavalry rolls on attempting to overcome
But they will not, quickly shall they be outdone
When the dust does settle and the screams of anguish sink
The luster of steel tarnishes, or so one would think
Blade dripping of blood
The same of which is on my clothes and skin
The sweat and wounds my own
Tall I stand yet exhausted and spent
I return my sword home
The Morningstar will repent
Gone and beaten raw
I fall back into the once sweet-smelling grass
Where wildflowers once bloomed
Smiling up at the sky
As the rains finally come and settle over me
Hung high above and washed it all away
The blood, the sweat, the pain,
The mild remorse of my dive
As I lay exhalting in my drive:
Prevailing to prevent those that would purge what good is left here
I lay now in the squalling storm
Listening to the beautiful rolls of thunder
The vivacious sprites dancing high, high above
The stench of war and choking blood
Dissapating from my sensing
I smile again at the sky
As the rains came and settled over me
To the scent, I do perceive
Wildflowers licking like melodic flames from the verdant hills
And I say: "Mother, did you see me? I am home."
