What is the worth of a single tear
Can it amount for one heart's broken dream
And fill an empty space, now left so vulnerable
For can its calm pureness begin to seem
To tell the lie that all will soon be well
As its clear form falls toward the floor
It leaves a faint glisten on an unmissed cheek
Failing to bring peace to a restless soul
Only now does it buy a spreading fear
That yet another will follow in its trail
Giving no answers, it raises more questions
Yes another, another follows in its path
A path out of a soul, out to an unmissed face
Does its trickling bitterness ease a heart
Whose dreams were so spitefully torn away
That now leaves it longing for strength
Longing to learn the answer of why
And yet the answers all trickle to the ground
Falling silently, holding all they know within them
Never telling of their worth.
