Hidden Vipers

Never meant to hurt you
To make you cry and scream
Fill your mind with agony
Destroy your every dream

I stole your very soul away
Now your overrun with hate
A soulless shell used and broken
Surrendered to its fate

I never stopped to think or care
Ruled by selfish desire
Gave in to passion, greed and lust
Got lost within our fire

But if truth be told I felt no love
Not to match the care you gave
Yet led you on to hope and pray
That we somehow we'd be saved

A smile so sweet hid the vipers beneath
That eventually ripped us apart
So sweet to see yet bitter to touch
Made heartbreak look like an art.
