And I'm sitting
and I'm thinking
and I'm hoping
and I'm dreaming
that someday I'll be
as beautiful as you
that someday I'll have
a little more to do
Places to be,
people to see,
attention so thick that
it's hard to see through
I guess you still remember
because you still smile when you see me
I used to think I was like Superman
it wasn't easy to be me
but I pale so in comparison to you
that I blend in with these cinder block walls
I'll never know you like they do
somehow you always make me look so small
Because I'm home on a Friday night
watching the last bit of light
fade off the horizon
and closing my curtains tight
I missed out on so much
in those nine short years
without the rest of the world
It's time to catch up
and get beautiful.
