I wrote this because I'm getting tired of living in a world where the aquisition of wealth is the driving force. So this goes out to everyone who's ever given up anything greater for money, or sold their soul for wealth.
A SHADE OF GREEN
Small, insignificant and green,
A greater poison never seen,
Consumes the mind, consumes the soul,
Returning not what it has stole.
The ugly angel knows it well,
Where coins click, counted in Hell.
Strive to master the wealth,
Wither away from blessed health,
With bony fingers caressing,
Your life, your God, your only blessing.
Like water to a stretch of sand,
Far away in some distant land,
Quenching your siezing thirst,
Soon becoming your First,
Nothing matters save the coin,
Can one escape this fatal loin?
What glitters in your eye rather than love?
The reflection of a coin, your precious dove,
Sitting on it's perch, noble and proud,
The hide of white nothing but a shroud,
A masquerade to hide it's acid filling,
It's touch corrupting, breaking, killing.
Not so innocent an eye,
Blacker than the blackest dye,
Not pure but dark it's feather,
It's legs like bony leather,
Talons sharp, tainted with blood,
Stained with the eternal flood,
Of always willing foolish hosts,
Opening up their cursed coats,
To let their hearts be damned from Heaven,
This is no dove, more of a raven.
