Watched By Vultures

Burning as we crawl up the river bank
Our dreams of escape have turned upon us
Berated by our heartless captors we soak the blood from
our wounds
Fiction becomes an intruder
As we tunnel into the fine earth that is our soul
We begin to encounter the death element
Oh sweet vengeance why have you left us
Was it not I who was promised your presence
Can I embrace thee from a distant peak
Shattered and weary we struggle to move
Everyone blaming each other
Carrying only our failure forever
Increasing all chances of death
