// Chapter \\ One

\\ Title // Introduction

/\=====\/

Cloudless skies and endless blue. Mejestik never had been so quiet and peacefull.

Two young soldiers trekked across the fields with swords sheathed at their hips and uniforms buckled tight together. The young man farthest ahead looked gloomy and mysterious. His hair was dark and his eyes deep pools of navy blue. His uniform was black, white and gray. The other young man had no smile, but with held a happy aura inside of him and he was fair haired. His eyes were light green and his hair was light blonde. The two walked with their hands swinging at their sides and blank expressions plastered on their flawless faces of youth. Butterflies erupted off of the ground and fluttered into the sky as the two stepped into a group of the red insects. The dark haired young man sighed and stopped at a sign that towered above the two of them. "Westphalia," he said in a deep, rumbling voice that seemed to be fit for an older and more muscular man."That is our destination?"

"Well, um," the fair haired one said with a slightly higher voice," I remember the charge saying it was Norwall. Is Norwall up there anywhere?"

"No. So we've gone the wrong way -and- lost daylight. Thanks Stephen."

The dark haired young man plopped down in front of the sign and snatched a pack of cigarettes out of his left breast pocket. He placed it between his lips and lit it with a match. Smoke slithered out from between his slightly parted lips and floated up towards the top of the sign. Stephen walked to the right side of it and leaned into it. "Wolfe."

The dark haired young man raised his eyebrows and grunted in reply. Stephen cleared his throat and gazed up towards the blue skies. "This war, it's between our two nations, yes?" Stephen asked.

"Two nations which have been fighting for years now, I think we made a good choice of joining Victor's crusade of swordsmen. Are you getting cold feet?" Wolfe asked.

"Hell no, I'm just making sure I'm right. Don't you want to go home though, see your parents maybe and siblings?"

"I have no family, they were slaughtered by the enemy five years ago when I was twelve. I have no one to go back to, so I don't mind if I died or not and if I killed a few."

Stephen glanced down at Wolfe. "Revenge for your fallen family?"

Wolfe took a prolonged drag from his cigarette and as he slowly pulled it away, smoke slithered like a snake around his face. He snuffed the cigarette and rested the back of his head against the wooden post of the sign. "No, I just have a craving to do work for someone and kill others for the hell of it," he replied with a wry smile.

"You'd kill a man just for money? Wouldn't you be a mercenary?" Stephen asked.

Dark navy blue pools flashed and Stephen blinked.

"Who says I'm not a mercenary now?"

Wolfe stood up and chuckled as he rested his right hand on the butt of his sword. Stephen stared at his comrad. "You're working for anyone?"

"You have a problem with that line of work? Loyalty only brings blood shed and I'd rather it be someone else's blood."

Wolfe turned to Stephen and smiled broader. "You're on your own now, Stephen. I know the road I must walk, you go ahead and start yours."

He turned on his heel and walked away from the wooden post.

hope you like this story, it might not be as popular as Suicide Treatment. If you have not yet read Suicide Treatment, please do, it's not really about cutting and it's set in a fantasy world. I think you'd like that if you like this story. Well, on to write another chapter that will be promised as -longer-. Bye for now.
