She went into her room. She tried to cry herself to sleep but the tears
wouldn't come, and what difference would it make? She turned to the window,
now full of nails because her mom had to find a way to keep her from
running. She looked up the phone number for her dad, would he understand if
she told him? Would he just turn her away?
She picked up the phone, dialed the number. Damn its busy, or
disconnected, maybe she could find his cell phone number, impossible. No
one was there now, she took her clothes out of her closet, in a fit of rage
she pulled all the hangers off, and threw them into the hallway, there was
no point in this but hearing her mom scream made her happy.
Now it was 2:00 am she took her clothes, the carpet behind the door
was now covered in pans of bolts, she knew this because her mom wanted to
wake up if she was leaving, she carefully stepped around them and out the
door, she got on her bike in the way of the subway, went down the stairs
and into the nearest car, she wasn't going to spend a lot of time down
there, who knew what kind of creeps were down there. She hoped this would
bring this to the airport, and luckily it did.
She got the money she had been saving and went up to the desk, "one
coach for LA" she said the ticket seller quickly said "where are your
parents?" Dara replied with a little lie but who cares, she was getting
out. "Their waiting for me there I was visiting my aunt" She got the ticket
and ran to the gate. She got into her seat with a sigh of relief. Then she
heard a man behind her tell her to put her tray table in the upright
position, she did and prepared for take off, finally she was free.
