“ Hey boss.” Jordan said as she walked past Let. Morales and sat at her desk.
“ Jordan, did you get any sleep? You just left.” Morales pointed out as he closed the file he was looking at.
“ I got enough sleep.” Jordan said as she looked through the stacks of papers on her desk.
“ Alright, listen up everyone. We have a new detective joining the force, Mark Carter, he’s one of the best out of New York.” Morales explained with all eyes on him.
“ Why’s he coming here?” Jordan asked as she wondered why a hotshot would want to come to a Pennsylvania department.
“ He transferred, that’s all I know and it can’t hurt to have more experience on this case.” Morales said referring to the White rose serial killer case, that most of the department is working on, mostly Jordan.
Six woman have already been killed, Jordan wanted to catch him before he could hurt anyone else. This case was very personal to her, because her husband of two years was by a killer that was going after her.
“ Who’s his partner?” Jordan asked, having a feeling that she already knew.
“ You.”
“ Oh come on! You know I like working alone.” Jordan snapped. She feared history might repeat it’s self if she had a partner, her husband, was also her partner.
“ Jordan you’re the only one with out a partner. I know how you feel but, he’s your partner.” Morales said.
“ Fine! If he dies I told you so.” Jordan said as she ran her hand through her slight blonde slight brown hair.
“ He won’t die.” Morales said as Mark just happened to walk in.
“ Who’s dieing?” He asked as he took a look around the grayish walls and the desks in front of each other, not to different from his last job.
“ You.” Jordan said as she looks at him. Greenish gray eyes, short brown hair, dressed in a suit by sloppy. ‘ He looks like he gets as much sleep as I do.’ She thought as she looked him over again.
“ What?” Mark asked as he faced Jordan and met her brown eyes.
“ Pay no mind to her. That’s Jordan Henderson, your partner.” Morales said as he flashed Jordan a ‘cut it out.’ look.
“ Nice to meet you.” Mark said, as he just looked at her, making no attempt to shake her hand or anything.
“ Yeah, same here.” Jordan said as she tried to read him, get something off of him, something she does with everyone she met but not with him.
“ There’s a shooting on 18th and 2nd. Mark and Jordan, you guys take it, it’ll give you a chance to bond.” Morales said.
“ Fine.” Jordan said as she grabbed her jacket and keys.
“ Play nice.” Morales called out to them as they left.
Morales and Jordan had been friends for a long time, because of him she met and fell in love with her husband.
“ I drive.” Jordan coldly said as she walked over to the drivers side.
“ Whatever you want.” He said as he got in the passengers side.
“ Is there a reason you don’t like me?” Mark finally asked as he watched her drive.
“ I don’t like partners.” Jordan said as she kept her eyes on the road but felt his against her.
“ Either do I, but you can’t always have what you want.” Mark said as he continued to look at her.
“ Why do you like to work alone?” Jordan asked as she quickly glanced over at him.
“ If I tell you, will you tell me?” Mark asked.
“ No.”
“I thought so.” Mark said as he sat back in his seat and look out the window.
“ Have you lived in Pennsylvania before?” Jordan asked, trying to make conversion.
“ Yeah, when I was younger.” Marks said, a little shocked that she wanted to know.
“ That’s good, you know your way around and stuff.” Jordan said because of a lack of better words.
“ Yeah.” Mark said with a small smile as he saw her trying. ‘Maybe she isn’t such a bitch after all, like everyone says.’ He thought as he looked out the window again, remembering his childhood, he didn’t live to far from here.
“ Alright lets get this over with.” Jordan said as she parked the car.
