Why do you insist on judging me?

Have you ever walked in my shoes?

My brethren and I are not the people you think

We hear your comments

Your boorish comments

Your I am better than yous

But what do you know?

Have you ever ripped a razor

From its case, to see if you bleed?

Have you ever cried while your brethren

Slash their arms

And then go home, and cry, and cut?

Have you ever been filled with

Sarcasm, as someone says

“It’s only for attention”

When they think you are normal?

Have you ever said

“It’s the cat”

To your family, friends, the ones

You should trust?

Have you ever watched

As the blood slowly dripped

Onto a white Kleenex?

Have you ever stood in my shoes?

Have you ever tried it?

Have you ever bled?

Until you have,

Until the razor has bit your skin

Until your life is painted in blood and metal

Do not create stereotypes

Do not tell me what to believe, to do

Do not judge me if you do not know me
