Limestone
A mystery carved
with stone sinews
ready to spring.
Crouching leoline body,
waiting.
A human head looks out
with intelligent eyes,
forever asking a silent riddle.
Tawny sands drift in dunes
against frozen flanks.
The hourglass spills,
and covers it in centuries.
