Evidence

I ponder the proof
held in my hand,
a hardbound book
of endless dreamers
who've discovered

the meaning of the words
beyond what the words mean.

I crack open the cover,
turn to the first page
and read the results of
a pen held by my own heart,

yet I still can't understand
what's in my grasp.
