Chapter 3 Thanos ~present~ ~ Mattys' POV

" Your place is in this world not the mortal one." A deadly calm voice said from behind the desk. " We show ourselves to a select few, ones worthy of knowledge. Do you realize what danger you have put yourself in? I could have your wings for this." Thanos let a hint of anger show through his neutral mask. I stood before him, eyes cast downward in what was supposed to be shame.

Shame which I did not feel.

I had seen earth, seen these legendary mortals and their pitiful inhabitance, and I had seen death for the first time. Angels are not immortal, they do die, just not as mortals do. No one knows what happens to angel after death, they just sort of disappear. If an angel receives a fatal wound they will however rot just as mortals are said to.

" If I hadn't been down there, there would have been no one to tell you about the demon." And yes, I had seen a demon too. She had wiped out an entire village before my eyes, strung them up and watched blood pour from their mouths as they screamed for help. Fire had swelled upon their flesh, ash and smoke was left to cover the sky.

" Yes because of you, we know that there is a new threat upon earth. I sent a team of highly trained soldiers who specialize in demon slaying." His eyes were cold and distant as they turned to me, then suddenly snapping back into reality they filled with a raging anger. " Do you know what happened to them?" I love rhetorical questions. " The whole lot of them were strung up by their wings, left to rot beside the mortals." Angels were not easily dispatched, though for a powerful was another thing altogether.

Thanos peered out at me behind calm, crystal blue eyes regaining his neutral mask. " I apologize, Mattys. I did not mean to get carried away and inform you of such..sin. I realize that today was the first time you saw death, you must be terribly traumatized. Go home and get rest." And with that he dismissed me.

I walked out of the Head of the Angel Army Force's office without saying another word. I had to suppress the urge to argue that I wasn't traumatized, he did after all let me go with a warning instead of tearing my wings off. Thanos acted as if I were made out of porcelain, that the mere word " sin" might shatter me into a thousand pieces.

To Thanos I was just an ordinary angel, nothing special. I'm supposed to mind my own business and stick to my rank, doomed in ignorance. I'm so tired of people thinking and acting like Thanos. What of this sin if we could overcome it? What would people say if I slay the demon?

I took off into the night, my black wings spreading their green tips to the sky, brushing through air. In the distance I saw a dance of wings and colors clashing against the dark violet sky.

Thanos said that this is the road to sin. It's not my place to slay demons, I wouldn't have enough "skills". After all it might " traumatize me". I smirked to myself as I flew towards my home. I'll show Thanos " skill".
