Abandonment

Please take me by the hand,

lead my somewhere safe.

Slowly fading, my rock, my wall.

The back turns, you disappear.

Abandonment.

Crimson tides come pushing in

carrying out the ashes once loved.

Standing on the corner, waiting, waiting.

The familiar warmth that ceased to be.

Abandonment.

A sign of love, a sign of you –

blown away, the wind, the leaves.

At home, mit ready, the hope.

Promises made, now scattered glass.

Abandonment.

Scribble this, scribble that – too busy.

Infinite pen of motion at work.

Memories come, memories go – I’m still here.

Forgotten in shadow, a faded picture.

Abandonment.
