This poem is my own English version of a poem, that I first wrote in Danish... It is inspired by a dream I had one night, that was really touching and made me very happy!. It is the best love poem I have written ever... It is seen from the point of view of a girl who's lover returns from a war between good and evil... Enjoy!

Thankful

When I saw you come
I was thankful
that you were alive
and hadn't fallen in the war
Thankful
for looking at you
when you could look back at me
and for touching you
when you could feel it
Thankful
that I could seize hold of you
and hug you of all my power
not to be abandoned
but have you really close
Thankful
that I could close
my weary eyes
and feel our happiness grow
out of the dark around us
Thankful
for whispering your name
when you could hear it
when you could whisper mine to me
Thankful
that I could finally say
next time I'll come along
because I don't think
that I can live without you.
