I Went Too Far

I tried to run before I could walk,
I tried to sing before I could talk,
I went too far before I had learned,
I touched the flame and only got burned.

I tried to hate, but could only fear,
I stopped before the ending was clear,
I wanted to love, to make a fresh start,
Before I had even discovered my heart.
