There was a Lady in the Shadows
She stood there, silently.
I heard Her voice around me
Raised in rapturous song.
I caught at the rags of Sunrise
As it fled the waking Moon
And stumbled to Her doorstep
In a blissful haze.
Shatter the thousand windows
Who stare at the back of Time
So we swam into the Darkness,
The look of Dreaming Death
Glinting deep within Her eyes.
Faltering, I fell to the feel of
Sharp cutting stones and metal on metal.
Wings spread came the Dawn
And I was alone in the Shadows
That dripped from the cold stained-glass.
The room rippled as Time coalesced
And wreathed my heart in thistles.
I longed to singer my screams to Her,
Let my grief stake me out in the sky
As the bitter winds whipped the tears from my eyes.
I held myself, instead,
Cloaked in a veil of laced Light,
Shivering beneath the knowing gaze of the Sun.
Here is where the Dreaming ends,
Unreality creeps from the cracks.
Her twin eyes reflected back my own sorrow.
Creation has played us for fools;
The inertia that binds our hearts
Together to the cold poles of Hatred
Spins the world around and under us.
I stood before Her then,
Covered in the mysteries of sweet Night
Come to steal my breath and close my eyes.
Amidst the mists of Her tears and desire,
I folded for Her a Perfect Wish.
So at last, in the dirt of the Earth, we came together.
Was there an onrush of newness,
A whole encompassing feeling of more?
We were swept away like jetsam,
Tossed about in the unending waves
Of our own twisted passions.
We thirsted for the life-gift,
The steaming blood of broken roses.
What we felt, instead of the soft razorlines,
Were our teeth at eachother's throats.
And so we fell from recollection,
Into the swirling Abyss that mocks all emotion,
From Humanity's last rope,
To the total madness of Love.
