The Mistake:
The flowers bloom this spring,
And the birds call to me as they sing.
They tell me to explore the world,
They say those special words.
The trees sway back and forth,
As I make myself go north.
The wind it calls to me,
It tells me to think of better things.
Of nice, flowers in the sun,
And precious love.
How foolish can it be!
To tell me how to see!
As I head into the town now,
I see ahead, a small little crowd.
They all shout absurd names,
They accuse, they blame.
I walk closer, as a see a girl on a stand,
And she lifts her hand.
She looks towards me,
for the whole world to see.
With eyes of blue,
she has me stuck like glue.
The crowd turns and spots me standing there,
They only glare.
"Help, Help me." The girl says,
I can see that she has no friends.
No one to back her up,
no one to give her love.
I rise onto the stage as I untie the rope,
As her face begins to glow.
The crowd screams,
as she flees.
I have let go a criminal!
That was unstoppable.
It is my entire fault,
How they will lock me in a solid vault.
I see guards flee for the girl,
As I see the end of my world.
They throw me in a cell,
This rigged hell.
I hear not a sound,
Except the night whispering, "How?"
They think I am foolish,
to do this over bliss.
The next day comes as I rise out of bed,
next to me sits a man of red.
With red skin that has been burnt,
He seems to be badly hurt.
I poke him awake,
"For heavens sake!"
He still sleeps there in a deep sleep,
Holding in his hand, a button for only him to keep.
The guards come, and see him there,
More come, as they just stand there and stare.
"He did it!" I heard some say,
Now I will be here another day.
More and more come to my cell,
Suddenly I hear a ring of a bell.
The town is having a meeting,
I bet about me.
They drag me onto the stage,
And throw me into another cage.
I see them all stare at me with awe,
Like this is my entire fault!
They bring out the man of death,
After this, no body dare take a breath.
The mayor came up to speak,
as I tried to flee.
The ropes loosened,
And I was free!
I ran and ran,
until I got to the beach and feel on the sand.
On a rock somewhere far out,
I lay there now.
I feel woke up late in the day,
I had nothing to say.
Where I lay,
Was almost gone, this can't be!
The sea was engulfing the rock,
In the air, I see a hawk.
Why is it there?
They don't come here?
It flew down and landed by me,
I think it wished to free me.
It gave out its leg and I grabbed on,
And then we were suddenly gone.
Flying through the air,
Without even a single care.
We landed at some desert,
And then I saw somebody hurt.
It was the man they accused me of killing,
Just after I freed myself.
I ran over to see him,
But he only grinned.
I heard someone speak,
It was the hawk.
And what he said,
Was that he was gone.
He had lost his head,
As he still held on to his bead.
The hawk directed me away,
to another place.
There we sat for a while longer,
as the sun dimmed and light began to linger.
He told me of such impossible things,
things of death, fantasy, and betrayal.
I was scared,
But I had nothing to fear.
I was safe now,
And I didn't know why.
It was here I spend the rest of my life,
without another crime.
