Virgin Suicide

She’s been brutalized,

Desensitized,

Defiled and scorned by society.

Young innocence attacked,

And she can’t get it back.

Others jeer in their own piety,

And she is killed in cold blood.

Her reputation’s been stained,

Trampled in the mud,

Her frail beauty still remains,

Even in death.

Victim to a rampage of adrenaline,

And the world sees it as her mortal sin.

Life ended, and the witnesses merely stood on the side,

As she was innocently murdered, like a virgin suicide.

Sense of worth obliterated to the dust,

Sacrificed on the alter of forceful lust.

Gentle girl, fallen victim to harsh rape,

Too weak to struggle, even dead she gets the blame.

As the scene closes in a mass of yellow tape,

Her parents say they do not know her,

They can’t accept the shame.

Undeserved disgrace,

For even virgin suicides never leave a trace.
