Armageddon Pirate

Prologue: Part 1

By Yoshino Twins

Everything was still. There was no sound, no light, nothing. Just a darkness, surrounding, overpowering, and still. A calm before the storm, if you ask me, because what came after, would haunt me, and still haunts me, for the remainder of my lifetime.

A strange burning sensation had begun -- I knew I was asleep, but my eyes were open. My mind was fogged, yet I knew exactly where I was, what I was doing -- except why. Like a drunken man, I was half in a stupor, half out. And then, that spark spread all across me, until I was screaming, falling into an abyss of darkness....

I awoke, after an eternity of loneliness. Perhaps not an eternity, but... I was definitely awake. Sitting up, I tried to see what was on my back, where I had felt the fire. The cold flames had cut me, burned into me a vessel, where I would carry these weights for the rest of my life. I knew that, as soon as I saw those marks.

I could never understand those marks, however, until I met him. Sate knew the language on me, and ironically, his name meant, "saint," but he was the least saintly person I ever met. But, he did give me an understanding of what was to come.

In other words, I was a warning, a beacon in the sky, a counsel of guidance for those oblivious, given by the gods. Too bad they never listened -- and Armageddon came with a vengeance. But she soon left, wounded, if it hadn't been for the one who did listen... Sate.
