I went upon a quest,
To cheat my dear friend death,
As an alchemist,
There was beyond my grasp,
The simple thought success,
Almost forever was my best

The moment I met you,
I knew I must pursue,
And do what I could do,
To stop a rosy hue,
Contradicting your eyes blue,
Almost forever my love is true.

And downing a sweet draught,
To live forever and a die not,
Not thinking I'd be shot,
By those who owed me naught,
Before death I'd never thought,
Almost forever could've been a lot.
