Explanation of Self

Diving into my dreams, I look for a life to be my own,
To shelter myself from reality's cruel and unjust ways,
Never truly being, never truly knowing, always consumed with doubt.
Will death bring the answers or will it just be the end?
Can I take the risk to fullfill this curiosity about the Other Side?
Or would I be foolish and insane to attempt to prove such a lie?
These questions, these thoughts, they plague my mind, my life.
Time has no meaning to me, though maybe because it has left me behind.
I fend for myself, live independently and stand tall.
Hoping it all gets better, believing the shadows will catch my fall.
The dark is no enemy of mine, but has a life and gives me life;
Energizing and my only company, the dark is there for me.
Again, the metaphors and dreams take over.
