The Overwhelming Heart

Shadows haunt a darkened mind,
Obscures the vision, almost blind,
Grasping, clutching onto thoughts,
an epic battle again is fought.

Reason struggles with the heart,
A losing battle from the start,
Infects silently and takes control,
Like virus to body, heart is to soul.

Antidote to purge the pain,
This bitter draught it clouds the brain,
Removes the reason and the rhyme,
Gives way to heart, distorts the time

Naked visage of rage is worn,
The pain exhudes, and reason mourns
Flailing, thrashing against one and all,
The heart has won, feel pain, and fall.
