In My Place

A stranger's guilty cough
at once obscures the facts
and now no one will ever see.
All lies, and only I surely know
what I can never reveal.
Fallacies become to them a truth
and fill my place as I rush away;
Only lies remain where I was,
so many, and not one truth.
I cannot return, for nobody sees
what honesty used to be.
Only lies, knowing they're lies,
each chooses to believe.
