Prologue: (It is the year of 2050, a war is being fought between vampires and the a secret organization of humans all over the world)
Reeve and Leon stood on the balcony overlooking the deserted street turning at any sound. They were there because their research and skills had pointed them out there. Told them that what they hunted was there. Soon, the bloodsuckers would arrive and Reeve and Leon would be ready.
Reeve and Leon had been partners for two years. Reeve didn’t like being assigned partners, but Leon had been his best partner. She made sure she did her part of the job, but there were times she didn’t listen to his instructions but only when she thought he was in danger. Reeve himself, liked searching and killing vampires. He worked for a vampire hunting organization called the New Circle Association (N.C.A). He never went to the headquarters which was held in England, but he lived in California so he never really met anyone from there except for the partners he were assigned. As long as he got his paychecks, he was satisfied.
The wind picked up, whipping Leon’s long black hair around her face. Her skin was as pale as milk. Her oak wood colored eyes scanned the darkness below her. Leon was tall and slender and she was strong and fit to battle the vampires. Reeve’s hair whipped around his face as well. His hair was black and they barely touched his shoulders. His skin was golden brown from being out in the sun in the streets where his dark colored eyes were forever watchful. Reeve was tall and muscular having a broad build to him.
There was movement coming from a bus to their left. The bus went past with someone chasing it at high levels of speed. The thing that was chasing the bus had a black trench coat covering him. Following the thing chasing the bus was ten more men. The movements of the men were precise and quick. This was a cue for Reeve. He reached into his coat pocket pulling out a long vile that held red liquid. He pulled the top off of it and drank it down with no hesitance. His five senses opened to a wider and more sensitive range. “Vampire blood. Always refreshing.” He looked to Leon. “You stay here…”
She interrupted him. “Unless I’m for certain that you’re in danger and if you don’t return in two and a half hours then search you down and kill you. I know Reeve. Now go kick ass.” Reeve smiled, then he jumped over the railing landing low on his feet. He always drank vampire blood before fighting vampires because it gave him the supernatural strength that he needed, but if he had it in his blood system for more than two hours than he would surely become one of them. Reeve started the time on his watch to keep track of how long he’d have with the super strength until it would become permanent.
Reeve began to run rapidly in the direction that he saw the bus and his followers run. While running, he pulled out a hard stone that was cylinder shaped. He pressed a button on the edge of it, and a long silver sword blade came from the end of it. The moonlight hit the sword, making a ray of light.
As he came upon the bus, he slowed his pace not seeing anyone or anything but smoke from where the bus had crashed. He sidestepped his way to the side of the bus, his boots thudding softly against the wet pavement. The sword was raised, ready to attack at any sudden movements that weren’t made by him. He studied the bus as he cautiously moved toward the front of it. There were dents in the sides of the aluminum and the door was removed from the bus. Some windows had been kicked in from the looks of it.
He went through the opening where the door was supposed to be. People were lying on the floor, fresh blood running freely from the dead bodies. Reeve saw no one that seemed to be alive. Reeve crinkled his nose from the sent of death in the chilled air. He stopped moving after hearing scurrying from the back of the bus. He listened carefully, his nerves telling him that he wasn’t the only one aboard the bus. He started going forward again, stepping over the bodies of the innocent people. He’d reached the end up the bus but he didn’t see a vampire. But his senses were telling him the opposite.
Reeve’s heard a clicking from above the bus. He was about to go through a window and check out the ceiling but he didn’t have to. A vampire jumped through the roof, landing on top of Reeve. Reeve stuck his silver sword through the heart of the vampire. The body turned to flames and dust, and then it dispersed into the air leaving nothing behind. More vampires came through the roof; some came from the other end of the bus or windows.
One swung a punch at Reeve; he ducked, sending his sword through the vampire’s neck. It too went to dust and flames. A vampire came running at Reeve, but before it could reach him, Reeve brought his arm around with his sword in hand, separating the vampire’s head from its body. Two came down from the roof. They were bigger than Reeve was, so he thought quick and jumped through a broken window. His body tumbled to the ground. His sword fell from his hand and spun behind the bus tire. The two vampires smiled then they went from his view.
Reeve flipped to his feet ready to fight the vampires that were appearing from no where. They were coming from alleyways and from behind the crashed bus. Reeve believed he could take them. Just not all at once. He was ready though. He wanted to take them on and tear them up. They were what destroyed all of his family except his teenager sister, Helen.
Reeve ran and jumped kicked a vampire in its head hearing cracking. That meant that its neck broke, but it wouldn’t be long before the bones would heal on their own. It would leave Reeve time to handle the other vampires. Another came charging to Reeve. Reeve went running in a lowered position as if to tackle but as Reeve ran a hidden silver dagger came from his sleeve. It fell to his hand, then Reeve threw it, the dagger plunging deep into the vampire’s heart. It howled in pain, then it turned to the ash that his friends did. As Reeve began to run to get his sword from behind the bus tire, all of the vampires jumped him. He caught one of the vampires that came at him by soaring through the air, then he threw the vampire at one side of the incoming crowd. This just may be too much for me to handle right now. Reeve thought. He looked at his watch to see how much time he had left. 45 minutes had gone by so he still had a little over an hour left.
The vampires stopped short in front of Reeve before touching him. Reeve smiled thinking they were finally fearful of him. But he noticed they seemed distracted. Reeve turned and saw his partner, Leon, riding down from the balcony on a line of then rope that came from cylinder shaped stone. She flipped pushing a button and the rope flew back into the stone canister then she pushed the other button. The stone canister released the silver sword. Leon landed on a vampire’s shoulders. Before the vampire could throw her off, she twisted its neck. She jumped onto the ground, slicing the same vampire’s head off. She smiled and winked to Reeve. “I saw you needed some help.”
Reeve chuckled. “Not from my point of view.” Reeve jumped up lashing both of his feet out kicking the vampires on his opposite sides. They both fell to the ground but they got up. A vampire kicked his foot out. Reeve ducked, after the leg passed right over Reeve’s head, he got up holding the vampire’s leg on his shoulder. The vampire pushed off with his other leg, kicking Reeve in the chest. Reeve was kicked back against the bus unconscious. The vampire stepped next to Reeve lowering the collar of his shirt. The vampire’s canine teeth showed as he licked his teeth.
Leon was slashing vampires with her sword using swift movements. The vampires that touched her sword turned to dust. Leon looked to Reeve’s direction. She saw him slumped against the bus not moving while a vampire was lowering its mouth to Reeve’s neck. Leon kicked a vampire out of her way, then she threw her sword. It hit the vampire right in the neck. It growled after looking at Leon then it turned to dust and flames. Leon began trying to fight her way to Reeve. A vampire jumped kicked her from no where. Leon landed on the ground. The vampire jumped on top of her pinning her down. He lowered himself to her neck, but he was then bashed in the head by a large shard of glass. Reeve was the one who threw it. Reeve slowly rose to his feet barely able to stand. He got his sword from behind the bus tire, leaving Leon’s next to his feet. He began fighting the vampires as they rushed to attack him.
A wind rushed through, making all the vampires including Leon and Reeve stopped moving. A man (more of like a vampire) came flying off the roof and landing on his feet on the wet pavement. He stood in front of Reeve and Leon smiling. This was the vampire Duke named, “Dekori”. The vampire used to work for a vampire king and his five young princes, but the king was killed by Dekori after he found out that he could use the princes’ blood essences to gain power and invincibility. He had gotten all of the princes’ except for one which was now eighteen years old. Dekori was the vampire that was now in charge of the vampires in the area while the prince, Cory hid from him. Dekori was the vampire that Reeve and Leon had always tried to defeat.
Dekori took steps closed to Reeve and Leon. Reeve bent over and threw Leon her sword so that she’d be able to protect herself. Dekori smiled. “So you’re back again I see.” He said slowly in a sly voice. His voice was deep with harshness with him not having to force it. Dekori’s dirty blonde hair was cut short as his green eyes looked at Reeve.
“Of course we’re back so we can kick your ass.” Leon responded before Reeve could say a word.
Dekori let out a short laugh. “You’re always the one say something Leon, but too bad you don’t fight as well as you look.” That made Leon mad. She ran toward Dekori with her sword in hand ready to slash him. Reeve yelled no to Leon always telling her not to fight out of anger, but it was too late. She lunged herself at Dekori. He drew his sword at the last minute, pushing it through Leon’s side. The sword went through her causing her to gasp. He kicked her, pulling the sword back through. She fell to the ground clutching her wound. Dekori chuckled as Reeve ran to her aid.
“Lets see what new partner New Circle will assign you now Reeve. Surely she won’t be as good Leon, certainly not as pretty.” Dekori said, then he jumped on top of the bus, then he jumped from that jumping to the side of a building scurrying up its side. Reeve didn’t chase after him.
He held Leon in his arm’s then he picked her up. Crimson colored blood was leaking from her both of her side wounds. Leon carried her to the car and put her in the back seat. On his way to the car, Leon had died in his arms after whispering to him, “Kill Dekori for me.” Her eyes lay shut now. Reeve got in the driver seat. He looked at the antidote he was supposed to take so that he wouldn’t become a vampire. He picked it up and held up wondering he really should take it, wondering if it was worth it. Well he did have to stop Dekori from getting the last essence and he wanted to stop Dekori for Leon since it was her last and only plea. Reeve took the antidote then he laid his head against the steering wheel knowing what he that he had to tell New Circle what had happened to Leon.
