"You're Miss North, am I correct?" A posh lady said.
I looked up to see a woman dressed in a disgusting brown jacket with a white fluffy silk blouse underneath with a long cream pleated skirt. Her hair was brown as well and she had some small glasses placed on the end of her nose adding a look of sophistication. 'Ponce' I thought to myself.
"Yeah, I'm Jules" I said staring at her straight in the eyes. She saw me staring at her evilly and glanced back down hurriedly at her papers.
"Here's your room key and number" And with that she bustled away. I looked for the nearest staircase and ran up it taking the steps three at a time and landed at the top. I glanced along the gray corridors, taking in my new home for however my stupid parents decided to send me here. I followed the sign directing me down the hall and stop outside my room, 422. I took a deep breath and opened the door.
"Well it needs a little work" I said to myself walking inside my new home with rubbish all over the floor, the last occupants obviously hadn't tidied up after themselves. I dumped my back and looked around my room. There was a large crème sofa.. a mini kitchenette type thing.. and table and a couple of mismatched chairs... there were three door openings and I peeked my head around the door on the far right to see a bedroom, curiosity then took over and I skipped to the next doorway to see a white and blue fresh looking bathroom. Through the final doorway, my happiness faded.I was going to have to share a place with someone???
The door opened and I spun round to see a familiar looking guy. I knew him from somewhere but I couldn't quite put my hand on it.
"Hey, I'm Jason" He said introducing himself. He ran his hand nervously through his brown dreads, and his chocolate sparkling eyes darted around the room.
"Yeah I'm Jules" I said nervously.
"Wait, are you Jules who went to my primary school and who used to eat blue play do?" he asked excitedly placing his large sports bag on the floor.
"Yeah I am, and you're the Jason who I tried to bury in the sand pit?" I said and we rushed towards each other in a hug. His arms held me tightly around my lower back, whilst mine snaked around his neck and I rested my head on his shoulder taking his soft scent of cologne. I felt secure and warm in his arms even for that brief second and smiled.
"I can't believe I'm rooming with you!" I said excitedly.
"Yeah me neither, it's gonna be awesome, like old times" He said smiling.
"Which side you sleep best on?" I asked.
"Wha." He spluttered with a very shocked expression on his face. I laughed, when I realized he thought I meant us sharing a bed. I patted him on the shoulder and he placed his hand on top of mine. I stopped laughing and smiled. I carefully withdrew my hand from off of his shoulders. 'Better change the subject, no matter how hot he is.'
"Sorry" He mumbled. I smiled softly as if to tell him that it was all right.
"So what you been up to?" I asked desperately trying to change the subject.
"Well, I'm a sporty kinda guy, like my music, love hanging with my friends, kinda normal really. What about you?" He asked.
"Well, I love my artwork, for some unknown reason I like jogging, I love my music aswell, I don't have too many friends here, but James is studying here aswell" I said smiling.
"Isn't there that rumor going round that James is gay?!" Jason asked me.
"Yea he is, but I don't see why people should hold it against him" I replied defending one of my friends.
"Cool, maybe you could introduce me. So what classes are you taking?" I asked him curiously, wondering if I would be lucky enough to be in some of his classes. I picked up a black bin liner which had been discarded by the previous occupants. Reaching down I began collecting can's and other food packaging.
"Well English, French, History, Art, Music and Sport" Jason said smiling glancing round the room.
"Wow! Almost the same as mine! I'm taking English, French, History, Art, Music and Chemistry" I said smiling.
"Freaky that" Jason said smiling,
"So you gonna help me tidy up or what?" I said motioning with my hand to our tip of a room. I opened my corduroy backpack and pulled out a black bin liner and unfolded it. I looked worriedly around the room of where I was going to start.
"Erm narr I think I'll just lie here and watch my roomy do all the work" He said sticking his tongue out and flopping down on the sofa smiling cheekily.
"Fine" I said grumpily as I began this monster of a task of cleaning out our room. I picked up some cans, paper; food packaging. everything was littered on the floor. After five minutes I looked up to see Jason was fast asleep. His face was softly smiling and his eyes resting shut. He looked so peaceful lying there as if nothing in the world could bother him.
"Aww bless" I said to myself. I tied the black bin liner up and placed it outside our room into a bustling corridor. I looked along at a group of friends down the hallway laughing and giggling and hugging each other. I grimaced and walked back in closing the door so the noise from the corridor wouldn't disturb Jason.
"Might aswell clutter it with my crap now" I said smiling.
I walked over quietly and picked up my corduroy bag walking over to a brown dressing table. It had a large mirror propped in the middle and two drawers on the top and some small drawers down the right hand side. Shoving my hand in my bag I pulled out some make up cases. One was labeled eyes, one lip's, one foundation, one body lotion and the fifth was labeled miscellaneous. All five bags of make up were bulging to an unbelievable amount. I emptied lips and eyes into the two drawers that sat on top of the dresser. All the tubes and various sized make up tubes and bottles and flip cases were emptied making a loud clattering noise as they fell into their new drawer. Smiling happily I did the same with all my other various products falling into their respective drawers.
A knock on my door caused me to turn around... I opened the door to see two of my silver suitcases and one of Jason's black ones. I grabbed my suitcase and attempted to pull it into the room. I had obviously forgotten how heavy it was as I dragged it mercilessly into our room. Well you couldn't call it room, it was a lot more spacious than a room and it had three separate rooms, two bedrooms and a bathroom. Maybe it was classed as a flat? Yes a flat seemed a good description. I looked over at Jason. his eyes were open and he was looking straight at me. I looked into his eyes and knew there was some emotion there but I couldn't quite read it.
"Hey" I said breaking the icy silence. "Your suitcases have arrived" I said turning and looking at the doorway were stood our suitcases.
"You wanna do something now?" Jason blurted out. "Like go explore or grab some food 'cause well I'm hungry" Jason said smiling leaning forward preparing himself to stand up. I took a step forward and held out my hand to help him up.
"Sure" I said pulling him up off the sofa which he had been sleeping on.
"Cool, lets go" Jason said practically skipping out of the room. I chuckled to myself. What a child.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Right, now why are we here?" I asked Jason as we sat on the cold concrete stand seats which looked out on the rugby pitch. We were the only people there, as everyone was most likely inside in the warmth unlike me and Jason.
"Well I want to catch up with ya... Without everyone else. Find out what you've been doing with your life I guess" Jason said. "So where did you go to middle school?" Jason asked.
(*)(*) to any puzzled readers this is a school from 16-24 or whenever like sixth form and university very specialized kinda rolled into I sorted that out for ya!! (*)(*)
"Loughborough High School" I said. "It was an alright place I guess, what about you?"
"Trent College." Jason said being interrupted by me.
"HAHAHA We kicked your ass at every sport there was! Ahaha!" I cried triumphantly remembering every match against Trent was won for a straight 4 years. In sport our school was one of the invincible schools whom it was very hard to beat.
"I know you did. I saw you once at a netball match there at Trent" Jason said looking away. I looked at him and said;
"Why didn't ya come over and chat to me?" I asked curiously resting my hands on the edge of the cold concrete and leant forward on them trying to keep myself slightly warmer.
"Because you were laughing happily" He said looking up at the slowly darkening sky. I followed his upward glance. The sky was a red colour and all the clouds were a coral pink. I smiled I would have loved to have painted it just then.
"So come on then, how many girls are ya dating already?" I joked selfishly wanting to know whether he was single or not.
"Ahahah Nar I've got Jenny, we've been dating almost a year and a half, she's pretty cool you'd like her I'll hafta introduce you guys" He said smiling, feeling in love even when he just talked about her. Shit forget it Jules, forget it! I'll like her, I could kill her for being with you, just get rid of nasty thoughts Jules! Think hot sport friends which he is bound to have that he can casually set ya up with.
"So who's the lucky fella?" Jason asked grinning and wiggling his eyes suggestively. I looked at him like he was the most arrogant bastard in the world and I gave him a gentle push and started laughing at his persistent- ness as he edged nearer to me as he began crawling along like a tiger on his hands and knees I burst out laughing as the curiosity seemed to take over him and he kept crawling over the seats after me.
"No-one!" I screamed loudly, "I'm single, cut it out Mr. Butcher" I said with a threatening sorta tone of voice. Honestly right then, I should have said oh I'm going out with someone to see if it would make him jealous. "So Jenny goes here right?" I asked.
"Yeah she does. She's perfect, I really don't have any ideas why she likes me at all really" He said returning to his previous seating position with his knees apart leaning on the back of the concrete seats.
"Oh no, not because you're not cute, or because you're not funny, smart and cool" I said forgetting that I was complementing him right to his face. Bugger.
"So you think I'm cute smart and intelligent? Well lil' miss Jules I didn't put you down for the complimentary type" He said grinning.
"Yea well you learnt it all off me, my teaching worked well obviously" I said sticking my tongue out.
"Jason!" A girl's voice called out. I instantly looked up wondering to know who was there and ready and raring to kill them. I looked over at Jason to see him smiling as a pretty and softly tanned girl came running across the grass in flip-flops and a pink skirt and matching light baby pink shirt. Jason stood up smiling. Oh this is Jenny then.
Jason scooped her up in his arms and kissed her passionately on the mouth for well over 15 seconds. After watching her practically eat him alive for 2 seconds, I felt repulsed and looked the other way and glancing up at the sky, not exactly taking it in but waiting for them to stop.
Jason coughed.
I turned and looked back round to see them both blushing and Jenny tucking her head behind Jason's right shoulder almost hiding with embarrassment. "Jenny, this is my roommate Jules and Jules this is my girlfriend Jenny" Jason said nervously introducing us.
"Yeah I gathered that, look I'm gonna go in, nice meeting you Jenny, but I'm gonna go bag the best bedroom and put away some of my stuff" I said standing up and walking off.
"Hey Jules , is it okay if I catch up with you later on this week? Once everyone has settled in a bit more, I would love to get to know you better" Jenny said flicking her brown hair over her shoulders smiling at me. Okay I could hate her so much right now, brilliant smile very beautiful and Jason's girl. Ooof!
"Yeah sure that'd be great" I said with faked happiness.
"Oh and Jules I got some basic food and stuff in my bag if ya want it" Jason said.
"Oh Jasey baby you're such a sweetie" Jenny said starting to kiss him again.
"Thanks" I said walking off shaking my head, I didn't bother to turn around.

Back at 422 I had put all my clothes into my room, [which I had chosen on the grounds that there was a larger wardrobe, even if the mirror was slightly smaller than Jason's] and it was around 11. Jason still wasn't back, probably still with Jenny thought not outside as it had been raining for hours now. Hmm I didn't know why but I was waiting up for him. I had played through my Eminem album, and in some parts rapping along, at least 3 times and still he wasn't back in. I just couldn't stop thinking abut him and Jenny, she made him so happy so why was there any point in me even trying. No, I resolved there wasn't any point whatsoever. I'd fallen asleep on the sofa before he had even returned.
