More Then A Friendship?

The sound of footsteps could be heard, as a figure came walking down the deserted road. As the figure came into view, it was discovered to be Jabo. As Jabo walked down the stretch of road, the group nowhere in sight, he remembered the conversation he had with them the day before.

THE DAY BEFORE

"James!" yelled Gordon as he yelled down the halls of the hotel "where the hell are ya?" Gordon turned a corner to see James puffing from a joint he was smoking.

"Hey!" said James, half in the bag. "What's going on?"

"Jabo wants to see us," said Gordon "said he needs to tell us something important!"

"Alright," said James "be there as soon as I finish this."

A few minutes later, the group was sitting in Jabos hotel room awaiting what he had to say. They watched as Jabo walked in and sat down in front of them.

"What's going on Jabo?" asked Laura

"Well," said Jabo, as he sighed. "Some strange shit has happened lately, and I need to get my head together."

"Meaning?..." said James

"Meaning," said Jabo "I'm gonna be leaving you guys for awhile, at least till I get everything figured out!" Jabo watched as tears swelled up in Lauras eyes as she ran out of the room.

"Don't worry," said Gordon "I'll try and help her. So where are you going?"

"I don't know!" said Jabo "And I don't know how long I'll be gone!"

"Well," said Gordon "we'll still be here whenever you get back!"

"Thanks G!" said Jabo "Look, I'm gonna leave now, can I get you to do a few things for me?"

"Sure!" said Gordon "Whatever you want!"

"Well," said Jabo "first off, I'm putting you in charge of the group till I get back. Second, I want you to give Laura a kiss goodbye from me. And Finally," said Jabo as he pointed at James "make sure he makes no sexual passes at Laura!"

"Hey!" said James

"Don't worry," said Gordon "he takes a crack at her, I'll crack his neck!"

PRESENT

"Yeah," Jabo said to himself "if they only knew the real reason!" As Jabo continued walking down the road, he kept thinking about everything that had been going on. Jabo knows that he loves Laura, but that was before Des came back. As Jabo thought, he knew that even though he loved

Laura as he loved Himiko, there was always that spot for Des. Jabos walking and thinking was soon interrupted by the sounds of arguing between a man and woman. As Jabo slowly made his way up to the people, he recognized the woman to be Carrie. He watched as her and the man continued arguing, then all of a sudden the man pulled out a gun. Acting quickly, Jabo pulled out a handgun, ran up behind the guy, grabbed him by the neck, and placed the barrel of the gun on

his left temple.

"Hey what the fuck's going on here?" demanded the man.

"Time for questions is later fucker," said Jabo "drop the gun!"

"Alright, Alright!" said the man as he dropped the gun. "Are you gonna let me go now?"

"No," said Jabo "you pointed a gun at one of my friends. For that, you die!" Jabo pulled the trigger, and let the guys lifeless body fall to the ground. Jabo looked at the body, then looked up at Carrie. "You okay?"

"Yeah...Yeah I'm fine!" said Carrie.

"So what happened?" asked Jabo

"Well," said Carrie "I decided to do a little traveling. I'd been walking for a while, and that can get quite tiring. So I see this guy and his car, the first car I've seen in a while. I didn't have any money to buy it from him, so when I saw him walk off to take a piss, I attempted

to steal it."

"So what went wrong?" asked Jabo

"He came back from pissing sooner then I thought!" said Carrie "Next thing I know, I got this guy pulling me out of his car, attacking me and shit! It was about that time, that you showed up."

"Well guess my timing was good!" said Jabo

"Yeah, really!" said Carrie

"So," said Jabo as he looked at the car "does it work?"

"I think so!" said Carrie as she went in and hotwired the car, this caused the radio to come on. "You Got It Bad" by Usher was playing on the radio, as Jabo and Carrie sat down in the seats. "SHIT!" yelled Carrie

"What is it?" asked Jabo

"Look at that," said Carrie "this fucking car is out of gas!"

"So what do we do?" asked Jabo

"Well," said Carrie "guess we'll have to keep walking, and hopefully come across a place." As they walked on, they saw a sign ahead of them. As they read the sign, it indicated that the city of Vachel was coming up. Jabo and Carrie looked at each other and smiled as they walked on,

heading towards Vachel.

As Jabo and Carrie walked through Vachel, they found all the walking was making them very hungry and tired. As they headed towards a bar, a large italian man walked into Jabo.

"Hey asshole," said the italian man "watch where the fuck you going, huh!" As Jabo and Carrie entered the bar, Jabo saw the italian man walk into an alley.

At the other end of the alley, a figure was hiding in the shadows. As the figure came into the dim light, the figure was revealed to be Des.

"That's it!" said Des, pumping the shotgun she had in her hands. "Walk right to me, make my job easier!" The large italian man walking down the alley was Angelo Corcione. He was the Don of Vachel, anyone who got on the wrong side of him would be found floating in the river. There were some who loved him, some who hated him. It was one of his non admirers who hired Des to take him out. As Des waited for Corcione, she loved the fact that she was paid 90,000, and all she had to do was blast him in the chest or head. When Corcione got close enough, Des stepped out of the shadows.

"Who's there?" asked Angelo as he pulled out a handgun.

"Your executioner!" said Des. As Angelo Corcione looked up, he got a clear view of Des, he began to laugh.

"Ah, you gotta be fucking kidding me!" said Corcione "They sent a fucking broad to get rid of me?"

"Yeah," said Des as she held up the shotgun and pulled the trigger "they did!"

"Shit!" said Angelo Corcione as he looked at the hole in his chest, and fell forward into a pool of his own blood.

As Des lowered her shotgun, she heard footsteps in the distance. As she hid back in the shadows, two figures entered the alley.

"Did you hear that?" asked Carrie

"Yeah," said Jabo "sounds like someone got fucked up by a shotgun!"

"Yeah, but where?" asked Carrie. As Jabo and Carrie walked down the alley, they stopped in front of Angelo Corciones body.

"Probably right here." said Jabo as he pointed at the body.

"Holy Shit!" said Carrie as she knelt down in front of the body, "who could of done this?"

"Must have been hired." said Jabo

"Who do you say that?" asked Carrie

"Guy looks Italian," said Jabo "probably Mafia, I imagine a hit was probably made out to him."

"Why do you say that?" asked Carrie

"Well," said Jabo as he took a drink from the whiskey bottle he got from the bar. "Because whoever did it, is hiding over there with the barrel of their shotgun still smoking!" As Carrie looked over where Jabo was pointing, she saw smoke coming from the shadows. Acting quickly she pulled out a handgun.

"Alright," said Carrie "come out of there, weapon down!" Carrie looked over at Jabo, who was giving her a strange look.

"What the fuck's that?" said Jabo "Did you train to be a cop or something?"

"No time to answer that, look!" said Carrie. As Jabo and Carrie looked in the shadows, they saw the figure come into view.

"Holy Shit!" said Jabo "Des! What are you doing here?"

"Des!?" said Carrie as she looked over at the woman. "Oh, so this is the girl you never shut the fuck up about during the war."

"Sure is!" said Jabo "So..What are you doing here?" asked Jabo

"Well," said Des "I just finished another assassination job. Say hello to Angelo Corcione, the now dead Don of Vachel." Des paused for a second, and appeared to be listening in the distance. "You hear that?" asked Des. As Jabo and Carrie listened, they could hear police sirens in the distance.

"Police!" said Jabo

"We have to leave this area," said Des "Now!" Jabo and Carrie followed Des, as she ran out of the alley. After running for a while, they found themselves out of Vachel.

"Where are we going?" asked Carrie.

"Well I don't know about you guys," said Des "but I'm headed to Decourt"

"Why you going there?" asked Jabo

"Was hired for another job." said Des

"Who's the target?" asked Jabo

"Some corrupt politician," said Des "he's in plans to sell military secrets to terrorists. I have to kill him before he does. But, it's gonna take a couple of days to get to Decourt on foot."

"We'll go with you!" said Jabo

"We will?" said Carrie

"It's not necessary." said Des

"No buts about it," said Jabo "we're going with you."

And so, Jabo, Carrie, and Des headed down the road on their way to Decourt.

As the evening set in, Jabo, Carrie, and Des decided that they should probably camp out for the night. After setting up a tent Carrie stole from the mans car, they had a fire going.

"Good thing we entered into the forest." said Carrie

"Yeah," said Jabo "we would have had a hell of a time starting a campfire on the road!"

"Shut up Jabo!" said Carrie.

"Hey," said Jabo "Gordon usually says that...and it's directed towards James." After a few minutes of silence, Jabo stood up, and pulled out a handgun. "I'm gonna see if there's anything out there to hunt, I'll be right back!"

Carrie and Des watched as Jabo walked into an area of the forest, disappearing in the trees.

IN THE TENT

"So," said Des as she looked over at Carrie. "We were never properly introduced."

"Well," said Carrie "my name is Carrie. I imagine you'll probably ask, how I know Jabo. Well actually, we met back in the war. We were both excellent snipers, however we were in different platoons, so we didn't get to see each other that often."

"Did you two get 'involved' after the war?" asked Des.

"No, it wasn't like that with us." said Carrie "We were just good friends. After the war, because we hadn't been able to make contact when the fighting got intense, we assumed the other was dead. It wasn't until a while ago, when Jabo and his group were in Niagara Falls, that I

discovered that he was still alive!"

"I see!" said Des "Well I imagine you'll probably want the same information from me!"

"Not really," said Carrie "I know more then enough about you!"

"What do you mean?" asked Des

"Well," said Carrie "when Jabo and I were training as snipers. We got to do a lot of talking, this and that, but most of his conversation was about you!"

"What?!" said Des

"Yeah," said Carrie "actually to be truthful, ne never shut the fuck up about you. I knew so much about you, it was as if I was married to ya or something!"

"I can't believe it!" said Des

"Well believe it!" said Carrie "He loved ya then, and I think he still does now!"

"Not possible," said Des "I already discussed it with him. His true love is Laura!"

"Maybe so," said Carrie "but I know Jabo well enough. He's been acting real strange lately, even for Jabo. I really think despite what you said to him, he still has strong feelings for you!" As Des opened her mouth to say something, her and Carrie heard footsteps. As they looked

out the front flap of the tent, they saw Jabo come from the woods. He sat down in front of the fire. They watched as he brought his hands up, and placed his hands on his head. Des stood up and prepared to exit the tent, when Carrie grabbed her arm. Des looked at Carrie, who was shaking her head.

"Let him get through it on his own!" said Carrie.

Carrie woke up and looked at her watch, the time was two in the morning. She looked over at Des, who was fast asleep. Carrie got up and stepped out of the tent, to see Jabo still sitting where he was earlier that evening. As she sat down beside him, he looked over at her.

"Hey Carrie!" said Jabo "What are you doing up?"

"I was about to ask you the same question!" said Carrie

"You should know," said Jabo "as a former soldier, I'm used to working on little to no sleep."

"Jabo," said Carrie "don't give me that soldier bullshit! What's wrong?"

"Nothing's wrong!" said Jabo

"Don't fucking give me that Jabo!" yelled Carrie "I think I know you well enough to know something's wrong!"

"Alright," said Jabo "you wanna know?"

"Yes," said Carrie "I do!"

"Well," said Jabo "as you know, I'm currently with Laura. I mean I love her, and well defend her with my life. But with Des in the picture, I just don't know anymore!"

"What do you mean?" asked Carrie

"I mean the more I think about it," said Jabo "I now realize I still love Des!"

"I see!" said Carrie. As she looked at the tent, she saw Des awake inside the tent. Carrie knew that Des heard the whole conversation.

There was a silence the next day, as Jabo, Carrie, and Des made their way towards Decourt. Though there was silence between them, they helped Des set up the assassination. As Des waited for the politician, Carrie pulled Jabo aside.

"What the fuck is the matter with you?" asked Carrie

"What are you talking about?" asked Jabo

"This whole goddamn silent treatment!" said Carrie "What are you? Five years old?"

"You just don't know what's going on!" said Jabo

"I'm perfectly aware of what's going on!" said Carrie "If you really love her as you say, then show her!" Jabo and Carrie sat in silence for several minutes.

"Maybe I will!" said Jabo.

As Jabo and Carrie finished talking, they saw Des set up a sniper rifle. They watched from the roof of a building, as the politician was in front of a fruit stand. Des meanwhile was lining up a headshot. Jabo and Carrie watched as Des set up the shot, and pulled the trigger. Blood splurted from the politicians head as he fell backwards into a display of apples. Des looked over at Jabo and Carrie, a smile showed up on her face.

Jabo, Carrie, and Des climbed down from the building, to see a bald headed white guy in the alley.

"I had a girl that would die for me, didn't appreciate her, so I made her cry for me!" said the white guy.

Acting quickly Des pulled out a handgun, and shot the guy in the head, causing him to fall into a puddle of blood.

"What the hell was about?" asked Carrie

"He reminded me of an ex boyfriend!" said Des

"Oh!" said Carrie.

"Well," said Carrie as her, Jabo and Des stood on the outskirts of Decourt. "I guess this is where we separate again!"

"Yeah, I guess so!" said Jabo, as Carrie walked up to him and gave him a hug.

"Hopefully we'll run into each other again!" said Carrie

"Looking forward to it!" said Jabo. Des and Jabo watched as Carrie continued walking, until she was out of sight. Jabo looked over at Des. "Well," said Jabo "I guess this is where we part again!"

"Yeah!" said Des. As she turned one way, Jabo turned the other and they began walking in opposite directions.

"What a fucking idiot I am!" Jabo said to himself.

"You're not an idiot!" came a voice from beside Jabo. He looked beside him to see Des.

"What are you doing back here?" asked Jabo.

"I wanted to tell you I know the conversation you had with Carrie last night." said Des

"But what does that have to do with you coming back here?" asked Jabo

"This!" said Des as she pulled Jabo close to her, and their lips locked.
