Set In Stone

Your existence:
A cartoon.
And when you speak,
I see nothing but cloudy bubbles.
Your repentance:
It’s marooned.
Stuck on this island,
And no one cares.
Your resistance:
Selfish. Worthless.
Vanity can only get you so far.
Your persistence:
In the name of progress.
Don’t you know,
You can’t change what’s already set in stone?

I don’t think you have a clue,
What you’ve got yourself into.

Your disciples:
Weak at the knees.
You can’t lead an army,
That cannot march.
Your temples:
Empty houses.
Here’s the church,
Where’s the steeple?
Your peaceful protest:
I don’t know,
A better joke.
Your righteous quest:
Nothing more,
Than fairy tale.
The dragon’s been slain, but you’re no prince.

As time passes,
Every story is exaggerated.
