A/N: This essay is my opinion. It was written out of frustration because of a certain group of feminists (so they call themselves). Take this into consideration before flaming lil' ole me.
Feminism, for you jolly folk who don't know the exact definition, is, according to dictionary.com:
1. The belief in the social, political, and economic equality of the sexes.
2. The movement organized around this belief.
Let me get this across the table – I'm all for gender equality. However, I am against the definition that many feminists I know or know of have adopted – the special treatment of women.
I should probably mention that these "false feminists" are no more than sexists under the guise of feminism.
Now, this essay (rant, basically) doesn't refer to all feminists. It does, however, go out to the major chunk of them who use their belief of feminism to garner sympathy, and to use their gender to their advantage. My question is – why do you deserve special treatment, solely based on your sex? What have you done that's so miraculous? I asked a feminist (sexist) I met this question, and here is the answer I got:
"We give birth to your children."
I've heard this excuse used before, or have heard of it being used. While I've heard enough stories of childbirth to gather that it is a painful experience, I can't see why some women think that this fact is their ticket to special treatment.
News flash: if someone wants special treatment, they need to do something special, not reproduce.
Another false feminist I'd like to address is the kind who brings their incorrect definition into the public school environment. A prime example of this is the female teacher who treats her female students better than her male students. Sadly, I've had to experience such a teacher. One example of her blatant sexism was making all the males wait, after the bell had rung, while the females left first. Not only this, among other things, an example of mistreating students, it should also be punishable – a teacher who treats a certain part of her students better than the other does not deserve to teacher. End of story.
The final group of false feminists in this rant is the upper echelon of sexists. Or, as they are affectionately called: feminazis. These are the women who take their incorrect feminism to the next level. This would include not taking care of facial or armpit, not wearing bras, things like that. That only applies to physical aspects. The feminazis I have encountered are very bitter towards males, to the point of accusing them of chauvinism over the littlest things.
Ah, yes. There is no better way to gain social equality than making yourself a social outcast instead. Good work, logic.
The entire idea behind "extreme feminism" is a crock. Women who think they can earn special treatment by men through the feminazi methods are blatantly ignorant. Want to make your appearance and personality hard to bear? Go right ahead, but you won't earn an ounce of respect for it, and it's ludicrous to think you will (as many feminazis think they will).
My final thoughts: women do not deserve special treatment based on the fact that they are female. Those who think they do are terrible sexists, and are actually contradicting the idea of feminism.
Your gender does not make you special.
