This passive and placid life
Struggling to stay afloat
This ever drowning boredom
Sinking into obscurity.

Salvation seems out of reach
To trembling, weak fingers.
Haunted eyes seek the one
To free this benighted soul
From tedious existence
To life fully lived.

Where is this one soul
That can free the lost?
Eyes cast above seeking
To find hope and peace
A rescue from the world.
