Even a small pin-prick of light
Can help starve away the darkest night,
Reminding you that you’re not alone
As you traverse the wild unknown.

For in this journey where nothing’s assured,
With the feeling that life just has to be endured,
There is something you should never forget-
A true friend, if you do it’s an act you’ll regret.

To be cliché- they’ll be there through thick and thin,
They’ll help save you and make sure that you win
The strange, confusing game that is referred to as life,
Where hidden agendas, secrets, and dirty tricks are rife.

It seems that you should appreciate those around you,
Those that make things easier, those that are true,
For they are the ones that contribute their light
Which helps to starve away even the darkest night.
