I look at the floor
Shards of my heart under your feet,
You keep on dancing around me
Crunching the fragile pieces into the ground
Making it impossible for me to pick them up.

You taunt me, coming close and then pulling away
You don't even care
You don't feel the paint hat stabs me
Every time I see you
You don't see the tears
Running in rivers down my cheeks,
I can almost drown in them.

Why?
You always seem to come back
Even when I try and push you away,
It's as useless as trying to push a brick wall

You don't care!
If you cared, then why am I here?
So alone, so isolated,
I've reached for you, but you dance away
too fast for me to catch
you almost seem to laugh at me
Saving yourself from this pain
Keeping both of us in this ugly medium
When everything could be so beautiful...

I asked you, pleaded you,
And even then you couldn't see the pain I suffer
How can you miss it?
It is there every time I look in your eyes
Pleading for you to stop playing this game.
You make things out more than they are
and keep teasing me, leading me on
Acting like you might change your mind
and then backing away...

I lay here, totally stranded,
Devoid of everything
But you will never leave
Until all of what I try so hard to keep alive
Dies right before your feet.
