It's raining in the city
and the faceless crowd mills round still
Their souls so barricaded
by blank masks and spiritless eyes

Withal their hearts yearn to be set free
flapping helplessly in their self-made cages
Making noises no one can hear
gently, softly, the yen for freedom fades

Lost in this darkened maze
barriers everywhere
How can one get out?
By looking in oneself?

The sound of a pin drop
is clearly heard and echoed
in this sealed up place of many walls
What a void space between Men

The longings for freedom tramp restlessly
beating wordlessly against the invisible bars
Crying out for a savior
they miss the keys in their pockets

In this place of ironies
where contradictions and lies barter
Will the caged bird be truly free?
Will someone please tell me?
