Through the night-dream passage I sail
Into the caves of marvel,
And while the night is growing pale
It's starlight in this place I dwell.
And though I would that I could stay
Still I must go in haste
I must reach there before break of day
Even as the sun rises I have raced.
At last the golden land lies before me,
Just as I have seen it dreaming
And beside me the playful, moving sea
Its whispers full of meaning.
This is the land that haunts me ever
In waking and in sleeping
Once here I feel that I could never
Go back to the land of my weeping.
The land of gold is peaceful and free
Full of many-spotted wonders
And beautiful dazzling things to see -
All is whole, nothing here sunders
The man and the land and the sea.
Nature and people are one at last
As they were ever meant to be
We can put our old emnity back in the past
And live with each other eternally.
Through star-cracked night I wandered
Far to the realm of gold
And found upon a sea that pondered
A murmur from days of old.
This false dichotomy of modern life
Is damaging to the soul
If free from it, we'll be free from strife
And we shall be made whole.
