AN: I deleted Brain Damaged because it wasn't coming out how I really wanted it to. Also, it's hard writing three stories at once. So, since Brain Damaged was the least developed, I kind of chose that one to be thrown in the trash. It's not totally gone though! Once I'm ready to start another series, you can be pretty sure that it'll be Brain Damaged. (I think I should change the title though!() ^^ But for now, enjoy this one! (I may even combine the two stories. Look for Kayasi and all her friends in this new story! ^_~)

Is this love Kyoto? Is it really? Please, don't do this.

Part 1 Chapter 1

It was a frosty evening as she dragged her feet along the snow laden path. A slight fog and drizzly snow smothered the horizon beyond. She stopped to watch the lazy sun creep back behind the trees for a restful night. She sighed as her damp wings weighed her down like a heavy load. She dreamily looked up to the stars as she continued to walk and sighed deeply, mournfully. "What use are wings if the heavens forbid me from using them? Why am I cursed with this path? I could have amounted to so much more if only I hadn't been so in love with him."

Her long slender body seemed to double over at the sheer weight of those massive wings. She once was a cherubic being, a powerful angelic fighter. She fell over as tears streamed down her face. "Why did I have to slay you Kyoto? Why couldn't you have just surrendered? You always put your duties before our love, but what you did went too far. Why must I now suffer for you?!"

She gripped the snow hard and wiped away her tears as she forced herself up. She knew that crying wouldn't bring him back; nothing would since she had sealed his fate.

So she kept on walking down that snowy path that was to be her forever haunted life.

She wished to return to the beginning where maybe some answers could be found and a horrid future escaped.

She quietly walked into the little cottage that served as her humble home. It was shared with her friend Neri and a girl whom was found on the side of the road 10 years ago named Saiya.

She slowly closed the door and like a phantom moved to the dimly lighted dinner of soup that Neri always left for her.

Saiya walked up to her and sighed. "Kaya," she said quietly.

"Yes?" Kaya replied without looking up from her watery dinner.

Saiya stuttered a bit and seemed afraid to talk. "Kaya, who are my parents?" She managed to mumble.

"We've been over this."

"I know we have! And I know that you know, just, please, why won't you tell me?"

Kaya sighed, "You're too young to understand..."

"Kaya!" She shrieked. "Stop pretending that I'm that little girl on the side of the road! I'm not three anymore! You can't just keep treating me like this! You'll have to tell me sometime, why not now?!!"

"It's not that easy. Saiya, it's too complicated."

Kaya didn't look at Saiya's face, but she could tell how disappointed and furious she must've been. Saiya ran to her room and slammed the door.

Kaya had known this feeling before. It had come a long time ago when she had fought as an angelic warrior. The feeling of being torn between duty and instinct the fear of what may come. Everything seemed all too familiar.

A dead silence filled the little house as she crept up to Saiya's room. "Saiya." she said knocking lightly. No one answered. Neri appeared from her own room. "What' wrong?" she asked sleepily.

"It's Saiya."

"Oh no, not again. She's such a persistent child."

Kaya sighed. "I think it's time we've told her."

Neri's eyes widened. "No, Kaya, we promised."

"I know what we promised and I know what my job is, but she deserves to know. She's a teen now, Neri. She may be changing soon."

Neri put her hand on Kaya's shoulder. "Fine; I just hope we're doing the right thing."

Kaya slowly opened the door and they entered.

A gentle breeze released the tension in the room. Saiya had been missing for over six years. Neri and Kaya knew what had happened long before the police were contacted. As Kaya sat in the quiet little room, she thought back on the night that Saiya had disappeared. When Neri and Kaya had opened the door, the room had been empty, the window open. There were no tracks in the snow outside and no sign pointed to struggle or resistance. Saiya had left on her own and Kaya knew why.

"I'm home." Said Neri as she closed the door. "Kaya? Kaya?" The voice grew louder as it approached Saiya's room. "Ka-"

"I'm right here." Kaya said.

Neri leaned on the doorframe. "You've got to get over this." Neri said sternly. "You can't blame yourself for what happened. You knew she'd leave one day and you had no power over that."

"The night she disappeared," Kaya said quietly. "We were arguing. She wanted to find out who her parents were and I told her no." Kaya burst out crying and threw her hands to cover her face. "A week before, she had asked why I was so distant from knew her time was coming and just wanted to know the truth. and I denied everything!"

Neri sighed. "Kaya-" The phone suddenly rang. ".I'll get that." Neri left to answer the phone as Kaya sat quietly, reflecting upon her past mistakes.

Neri rushed back into the room. "Kaya!" she cried out with a smiling face. But Kaya's eyes were closed and she fell off the chair. "Oh no!" Neri rushed to her side and tried to awaken her. "Kaya! Kaya! Wake up!" She shook her as hard as she could but Kaya stayed a lifeless corpse. "Don't leave me too," she said tearing up. Not when we've come so close to completing our mission. I know you Kaya and you never let up before your job is done, so why should this time be any different?! Kaya! Please wake up!"

It seemed useless so Neri stopped shaking her. Besides, the flow of tears blinded her. She had found a good friend just to lose one. "They found Saiya.." she whispered. "She's safe with her only you could hear me."

Kaya's eyes slowly opened. "Did they really find her?" She asked tiredly.

"Yes," Neri nodded as tears streamed down her face.

Kaya closed her eyes again. "Tell her I'm sorry for being such a liar." She said and was gone.

"No!" Neri screamed. "You weren't lying; you were trying to protect her!" A waterfall of tears swam down her face as she tried to call back her friend.

AN: Well, that's it for chapter one. Sorry that it was a bit boring! It may have been a bit confusing, but trust me. It'll get a bit clearer once I start explaining who she is and all that background info. Also, the mysterious connection between Kyoto and Kaya will be revealed. Shockers are sure to pop up so stay tuned! ^^
