As we began to read The Things They Carried during the latter part of
Junior year, our English assignment was to write two poems from differing
perspectives on the Vietnamese conflict. The ideas did not necessarily
have to be opposite, only different.
The first poem is from that of a housewife left behind with a child.
The second is from that of a VC soldier.
Please note, I am not Vietnamese, nor have I ever claimed to be or
fully understand motives and feelings behind this war. Please do not be
