~Hope~

Sporadic, lemon-scented
like a white-winged wave,
traveling crest of foam
on the spirit-sea air.

Feel it beating inside the drum of your skin:
angelica arrhythmia
tantalizing like waves of white cold fire
licking at my sandaled feet.

Weathered white feathers spiral down, down,
cloud-born, to the spearmint newsprint landing
on a surprise swatch of asphalt
bring your love down to me, fill up my soul.

A pint of wisdom, never to be released,
a swallow of silver, to be taken before bedtime, to
cover up the loneliness in a heavyweight prison,
pulsing heat-hard lump in my stomach.

A butterfly flew into my open mouth.
.don't let it break.
